Ambleside

Ambleside is located quite near the centre of the Lake District, north of Lake Windermere and is quite easy to reach via main roads. Ambleside is rich with history and has always been popular with walkers and climbers and caters for all with many restaurant, public house and hotels. Being remote it was not until a few hundred years ago that Ambleside became a larger town with lead and copper mining in the area. Ambleside became a Market town with people coming from miles around.

Nearby the remains of a roman fort can be found known as Roman Fort Galava. One of the smallest houses in Britain can be found here known as the 17th century bridge house. The town also hosts a museum, which house Beatrix Potter atrifacts. Ambleside is located within beautiful scenery and rolling hills and, being central, is a great place to stay and roam around the lakes district.
