Appleby

Appleby is an ancient town located on the river Eden in the Eden valley. Appleby has a small population of approximately 2500 and is an idyllic little town. Appleby's full name is Apple-in-Westmorland but is usually just known as Appleby. The main street is lined with trees creating a picturesque village atmosphere with only a small collection of shops.

Appleby also has its own castle dating back over a thousand years and has been extended during the years that followed and is set in picturesque surroundings and has its own stunning gardens. Appleby has a host of hotels and bed and breakfasts and lots of self catering cottages for hire. The area has lots of walks along the river and surrounding countryside. The infamous settle to Carlisle railway runs though this tranquil and picturesque Appleby.
