Windermere

Windermere is the most popular destination in the Lake District, with very easy road access and being located at the south of the Lakes makes it a popular choice with day and weekend visitors. Windermere town is very beautiful with lovely old buildings, great eateries and petite charming gift shops. The town of Windermere is situated on the southern end of the lake.

You can walk from the centre down to the lakeside where you can hire a rowing boat or book a trip on a steamer boat or you can simply feed the ducks and swans. There is a fantastic choice of accommodation within the town and some quality cottages for rent. There are some wonderful holiday cottages around the lake in more quieter settings for both weekend and week rentals.
